The interview tracker: five columns that beat panic

Dear Applicant,

Interview invitations start landing in October. The people who look calm by December are not calmer people. They wrote things down in September.

Program. Interview date. Thank-you sent. Red flags. Gut score. That is the entire system.

Not because tracking is complicated, but because rank season punishes the person who trusted their memory. After ten interview days that all included a friendly program director, a resident dinner, and a slide about wellness, the days blur. The one that felt wrong in November feels fine in February, and that is exactly the trap.

Red flags and gut score. Write one honest line the same evening, while the feeling is still specific: "PD vague about call schedule." "Residents answered every question by looking at the chief first." Score the day 1 to 10 before you sleep.

You are not being negative. You are leaving evidence for the version of you that has to build a rank list in February with fifteen blurred memories and one certainty: you cannot revisit.
